A Little History

We're proud that the history of serving drinks at Alley Bar goes back over 130 years. This location has been a bar ever since Charles Binder's Saloon in 1880. We love keeping the Binder's traditions alive, especially the 1880's facial hair!

These days our goal at the Alley is to run a bar that we ourselves would want to drink in. That means good quality fresh ingredients, great cocktails, Michigan craft beer, and good cheap cans in a simple relaxed setting. In achieving that goal, we feel we've created a place everyone can love. Whether you call us a relaxed cocktail bar, or maybe an upscale dive, we're happy we can bridge the gap that allows anyone (over 21) to feel comfortable here.

So have a seat in a 60 year old booth from the old Round Table Tavern, and have a Manhattan with brandied cherries, or a Michigan IPA, or a Pickle back with The Brinery juice, or a PBR, or... whatever mood strikes you, and raise a glass to adding a new chapter to an old tradition.
